SOMETHING'S NOT RIGHT
It's painfully obvious to anyone who drives a car or writes a check to pay the monthly heating bill. We've got a serious energy problem and, whether you realize it or not, it's affecting you in more ways than you may know.
CONSIDER THIS
Oil companies are recording the largest profits of ANY business in history. In February 2007, Exxon Mobil posted the largest annual profit ever by a US company -- $39.5-billion! And there's no end in sight.
Industry experts estimate there's another $100,000,000,000,000 worth of oil still in the ground that has Big Oil smacking its lips -- that's right, $100 TRILLION!
Meanwhile, locating, drilling and refining these reserves is growing increasingly difficult – and expensive. But never fear, these costs will eventually be passed on to all of us in the form of higher fuel prices.
They'll also be passed on to the companies we rely on for all our goods and services. Of course this means we'll be paying more for everything we buy. Necessities, luxuries -- it doesn't matter. Everything is going to cost more.
THAT'S NOT ALL
Escalating oil prices contribute to inflation thereby causing interest rates to rise. This translates to higher mortgage and credit card rates.
Should a major interruption in supply occur, due, for example, to a natural disaster or terrorist attack, chaos, recession and possibly even global depression would be the inevitable result.
AND THERE'S MORE
Big Oil is a dirty business. Many diseases caused by air pollution, toxic waste sites and groundwater contamination threaten the health and well-being of every living creature on earth ... including you and your loved ones.
Communities, neighbored by refineries and processing plants, face the risk of chemical fires, explosions and deadly, cancer causing emissions every single day. Entire ecosystems are equally vulnerable to deadly oil spills.
AS IF THAT WEREN'T ENOUGH
Our enormous appetite for oil is heating up the planet. Top climate scientists warn that the earth is the hottest it's ever been in 400 years. Last year, 2006, was the warmest in recorded US weather history and 2005 was the warmest year on record worldwide.
The headlines are filled with stories of draughts, record flooding, wildfires and families forced to evacuate their homes.
As weather patterns are disrupted, we see storms, hurricanes and natural disasters becoming more frequent and intense.
The polar ice caps are melting. Glaciers are disappearing. Greenland is literally shrinking in size.
Wildlife biologists predict the polar bear may be extinct in as little as ten years.
AND FINALLY
Every day, American troops risk their lives, while our nation is held hostage by volatile governments and dictators who we depend on for the energy vital to our day-to-day existence.
READY FOR A BETTER WAY?
The good news is that Alternative Energy solutions to ALL of these problems already exist -- today, right now.
Did you know that in 2006 Brazil became completely energy independent? Driving the same cars we do, they're using ethanol, just one form of alternative energy, made from sugar cane to fuel their vehicles.
Alternative energy solutions are CHEAPER, CLEANER and RENEWABLE year after year. Not only that, we can produce them right here at home and they'll create hundreds of thousands of jobs in new leading edge industries.
The list of alternative energy options is growing rapidly. Available technologies now include ethanol, fuel cells, solar, wind, and biomass. These offer real hope for a brighter and greener future.
WANT TO MAKE IT HAPPEN?
Every day, more and more of us come to the realization that we've got to free ourselves from Big Oil. So where do we start? How do we make ours voices heard? For starters, we must tell our elected representatives, loud and clear, that we expect them to make energy independence a national priority. We must DEMAND their support for alternative energy options until they're readily available to all Americans. You'll find the information and resources you need to start making a difference right here.
We invite you to join the growing Alternative Energy Movement and show your support by purchasing Support Alternative Energy products from our online store. Nothing less than the future of the planet is at stake.
And remember, TOGETHER WE CAN! Now pass it on.
The basic insight, is to realize that global warming, the geopolitics of oil, and warfare in the Persian Gulf are not separate problems -- they are aspects of a single problem, the West's dependence on oil.
